Best Time To Visit Kosi River Dam (Jim Corbett) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Kosi River Dam, Jim Corbett, Uttarakhand

The Kosi River Dam, located in the proximity of Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, India, offers a picturesque and serene environment that can be best enjoyed during the post-monsoon and winter months. The ideal time to plan a visit is between October and mid-June when the weather is pleasant and the river's flow is steady and calm. October to February is particularly ideal for those who enjoy cooler temperatures and want to engage in bird watching, as many migratory birds visit the region during this period. Additionally, these months provide an excellent opportunity for wildlife enthusiasts to explore Jim Corbett National Park, as animals are commonly sighted near water bodies. The lush landscapes post-monsoon offer a thriving flora which makes it a splendid sight for nature lovers.

Visitors should be wary of the monsoon season from July to September, as heavy rains can cause the river to swell and lead to flooding, making it dangerous and often inaccessible due to high currents and washed-out roads. The park itself might also remain closed during the peak of the monsoon season for safety reasons. In summers, which span from mid-June to June end, the region experiences a hot climate, which might not be comfortable for everyone, although it's a good time for spotting wildlife as they flock to the river for water. To ensure a comfortable visit, it's recommended to carry light cotton clothing during the summer and warm clothing in the winter, along with rain gear if you’re visiting towards the end of the monsoon season.
