Best Time To Visit Kozhikode (Kerala) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Kozhikode

Kozhikode, also known as Calicut, is a vibrant city in the southern Indian state of Kerala, known for its beautiful beaches, historic sites, and cultural heritage. The best time to visit Kozhikode is during the cooler and relatively dry months of October to March. During this period, the weather is pleasant with minimal rainfall, allowing for uninterrupted exploration of the city's attractions. Tourists can comfortably enjoy the serene Kappad Beach where Vasco da Gama landed in 1498, visit the famous Kozhikode Beach at sunset, or stroll through the bustling spice markets that reflect the city's rich trading history.

Visitors can also plan their trip around the famous Malabar Mahotsavam, which is usually held in January. It is a grand festival showcasing the cultural, traditional, and artistic excellence of Kozhikode and the Malabar region. The city comes alive with performances ranging from classical dance and music to folk arts. However, if visiting during the summer months of April to June, one should be prepared for hot and humid weather, with temperatures often rising above 35°C. The monsoon period from June to September offers a lush green landscape invigorated by the rains, but outdoor activities might be restricted due to heavy showers. Therefore, planning your visit in the cooler months will provide a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.
