Lalitha Mahal Palace, located near the Chamundi Hills in Mysore (now Mysuru), Karnataka, is the second largest palace in the city and a splendid example of the opulence of the bygone royal era. Commissioned in 1921 by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV for the exclusive stay of the Viceroy of India, the palace was designed by E.W. Fritchley in the Renaissance style with a touch of English manor and Italian palazzo. The two-storied structure is painted pure white, giving it a majestic and ethereal appearance. The palace features a grand central dome, huge pillars, and expansive terraces, as well as tasteful decor that includes Belgian crystal chandeliers, Persian carpets, and ornate furniture. It has now been converted into a luxury heritage hotel, offering visitors a chance to experience princely comforts. The landscaped gardens, with their manicured lawns and vibrant flowers, contribute to the palace's breathtaking beauty.
