Laxman Jhula is an iconic suspension bridge across the river Ganga in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India. Completed in 1929, this iron bridge was built in the same place where it's believed that Lakshman, the brother of Lord Rama, crossed the river using just jute ropes. Spanning approximately 450 feet and situated at an elevation of around 70 feet from the river, the bridge links the two villages of Tapovan on the western bank and Jonk on the eastern bank, leading to the various temples and ashrams located in the vicinity. Laxman Jhula is not just a popular attraction for pilgrims but also for travelers from across the world. It sways slightly when the wind blows or as people cross, which adds to the thrill of walking on it. The view from the bridge is panoramic, with the river flowing below and the scenic Garhwal Himalayas in the backdrop. Today, it stands as a symbol of the city's religious significance and attracts a multitude of visitors who come to soak in its spiritual ambiance.
