Bharat Mandir is an ancient and esteemed temple located in the heart of Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India. It is said to be the oldest temple in Rishikesh, established by revered Adi Shankaracharya on the banks of the holy Ganges River. According to legends, the temple was built on the specific spot where the sage Raibhya did penance, and as a reward, the gods appeared before him in the form of Hrishikesh Narayan. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the deity here is worshipped as Lord Hrishikesh Narayan. The temple houses a statue of Lord Vishnu carved from a single piece of Saligram, alongside other deities. The architecture of Bharat Mandir reflects the ancient Indian style with intricate carvings and a serene atmosphere. It is a key part of the famous 'Panch Tirth' (Five Pilgrimages) within Rishikesh. The temple is not only a spiritual retreat but also a place of historical significance with many archaeological artifacts, some dating back to the 12th century, preserved within the premises. Every year on Basant Panchami, a sacred festival is held in the temple, drawing pilgrims from across the nation.
