Best Time To Visit Mahendra Cave (Pokhara) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Mahendra Cave in Pokhara, Nepal

Mahendra Cave, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Pokhara, is a stunning limestone cave known for its spectacular rock formations and the holy shrine inside it. The best time to visit Mahendra Cave is during the dry season, which runs from September to November and from late February to April. During these months, the weather in Pokhara is generally clear and pleasant, with minimal rainfall, allowing for comfortable cave exploration. The monsoon season, which stretches from June to August, often brings heavy rains that can result in waterlogging inside the cave, making it less accessible and potentially risky for visitors.

Furthermore, visiting during the Autumn months (September to November) not only offers the advantage of stable weather but also provides an opportunity to witness the vibrant festivals of Dashain and Tihar that take place in Nepal, adding cultural richness to your trip. Temperatures during this period range from 10°C to 25°C, ideal for daytime explorations without the extreme cold of winter or the scorching heat of summer. Spring is another favorable season, blessed with blooming flowers and lush greenery, enhancing the beauty of the cave's surroundings. Regardless of when you choose to visit, make sure to bring a good pair of walking shoes and a flashlight to navigate through the darker sections of Mahendra Cave safely.
