The Peace Pagoda in Darjeeling is a significant symbol of peace and spirituality, set against the backdrop of the majestic Himalayas. Located on the slopes of the Jalapahar Hill, the pagoda is part of a network of Peace Pagodas around the world, envisioned by Nichidatsu Fujii, a Buddhist monk from Japan, who was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's non-violent approach to conflict resolution. Standing at a height of 28.5 meters, the pagoda is a glistening white structure with four gleaming statues of Lord Buddha that symbolize key events of his life. The ambience is serene, and the panoramic views of Darjeeling and the Kanchenjunga range from the site are truly breathtaking. Visitors to the Peace Pagoda can immerse themselves in the quiet contemplation, participate in prayer sessions, and enjoy the intricate traditional Japanese design which blends harmoniously with the natural beauty of Darjeeling.
