The Japanese Temple, also known as the Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple, is situated in the peaceful Jalapahar hill area of Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. Constructed by Nichidatsu Fujii, a Japanese Buddhist monk, in 1972, the temple stands as a symbol of peace and spirituality. Built in traditional Japanese architectural style, the structure features a pristine white exterior with contrasting wooden accents. A key highlight is the prayer hall, where one can find two large golden statues of Lord Buddha. The rhythmic chanting of 'Nam Myoho Renge Kyo' reverberates in the hall and creates a serene atmosphere. Adjacent to the temple is the Peace Pagoda, showcasing four avatars of Buddha. This tranquil place offers panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga range and is surrounded by lush greenery, making it a perfect spot for meditation and quiet contemplation.
