Best Time to Visit Poovar Island in Trivandrum, Kerala

Nestled in the southern tip of Trivandrum, Poovar Island is a tropical paradise where the sea meets the river and beach. The best time to visit Poovar Island is during the winter months, from November to February. During this period, the weather is pleasantly cool and dry, with temperatures averaging around 17°C to 30°C. This makes it an ideal time for tourists to engage in various activities such as boating in the backwaters, visiting the golden sand beach, and enjoying the tranquil setting of the island. The cool breeze from the Arabian Sea provides a refreshing escape from the heat, and with minimal rainfall, your sightseeing plans are less likely to be disrupted.

However, if you're interested in experiencing Poovar in a different light, the monsoon season, from June to August, presents a unique charm. While many would prefer to avoid this season due to heavy rains and possible disruptions in travel plans, the monsoon brings out the lush greenery of the island, making it exceptionally beautiful. The post-monsoon months of September and October still have sporadic rain but are less intense and can be considered by those who enjoy a mild climate and a less crowded environment. During the summer months March to May, the weather is hot and humid with temperatures rising up to 37°C, which might be uncomfortable for many, hence typically not recommended for visiting.
