The ideal time to visit the Satpura Tiger Reserve is during the winter months, from October to March. During this period, the climate is pleasant and cool, which not only makes wildlife spotting more comfortable for tourists but also tends to increase animal activity near water sources. The temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F), making jeep safaris and other outdoor activities exceedingly enjoyable. It's also a great time for birdwatching as many migratory birds visit the park. The park remains open to visitors during these months and offers the full range of safari experiences.
However, if you are interested in spotting the elusive Bengal tiger, the hot summer months of April and May are particularly recommended. During this time, temperatures soar to 40°C (104°F), and the scarce water resources force wildlife to emerge in search of hydration, increasing the probability of sightings. Note that while the heat can be intense, the lower tourist turnout could mean a more exclusive experience. In the summer, it is advisable to plan early morning or late afternoon safaris to avoid the midday heat. The park is closed during the monsoon season from June to September due to heavy rains and the breeding season for the wildlife.
