Best Time to Visit Vizhinjam Lighthouse, Trivandrum, Kerala

The ideal time to visit Vizhinjam Lighthouse in Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), Kerala, is between the months of October and February. During this period, the weather in Kerala is pleasantly cool and comfortable, making it perfect for sightseeing and outdoor activities. The monsoon season, which typically runs from June to September, is over, and the skies are mostly clear. Tourists can enjoy uninterrupted views of the Arabian Sea from the lighthouse. The temperature during these months ranges from 20°C to 30°C, ensuring a pleasing experience without the heavy heat that characterizes the tropical climate of the region. Additionally, this is also the peak tourist season, so be prepared for more crowds and higher rates for accommodation.

Visitors interested in local festivities might consider timing their visit to coincide with the various cultural festivals that Kerala is known for, such as Onam in August/September or the Trivandrum Festival, which occurs in December/January. However, it’s worth noting that the lighthouse might have different operational hours on public holidays, so it's advisable to check the timings before planning your visit. The beginning of March until the onset of the monsoon represents the summer season where temperatures can soar, making daytime visits to the lighthouse less comfortable. Early mornings or late afternoons during the summer months are preferable if the visit cannot be scheduled in the recommended October-February window.
