Aga Khan Palace, built in 1892 by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III in Pune, Maharashtra, India, stands as an architectural marvel with historical significance. Sprawling over 19 acres, it showcases Italian arches, spacious lawns, and a picturesque corridor. Initially built to aid the poor in the neighboring areas, it later played a pivotal role in India's independence struggle. During the Quit India Movement in 1942, key freedom fighters, including Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi, and secretary Mahadevbhai Desai were interned here. The palace houses their memorials, symbolizing their sacrifices. It also hosts a museum displaying personal items and photographs narrating poignant episodes of India's fight for independence. The palace is not just a monument but a tribute to the ethos of nonviolent resistance and is deemed a monument of national importance by the Archaeological Survey of India.
