Saras Baug is a significant landmark in Pune, Maharashtra, India, cherished for its lush greenery and serene ambiance. Originally a lake at the foothills of Parvati Hill, it was dried up under the instructions of Nanasaheb Peshwa in the 18th century to make way for a garden. The central attraction of Saras Baug is the Talyatla Ganpati Temple, dedicated to Lord Ganesha, which stands amidst the pond-turned-garden. Over the years, Saras Baug has been a favorite recreational spot for both locals and tourists. The entire area spans across approximately 25 acres, boasting a rich variety of flora. With well-paved pathways, it's a popular spot for morning walks and a playground for children. The historical significance and the calmness it offers amidst the urban hustle make it a must-visit place for anyone coming to Pune. In addition to its botanical and leisure offerings, Saras Baug also includes a museum that showcases the history of the Peshwa dynasty.
