Lal Mahal, also known as Red Palace, is located in Pune, Maharashtra, India, and is one of the city's significant landmarks. It has historical prominence as the childhood residence of Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire. The original structure was built in 1630 AD by Shivaji's father, Shahaji Bhonsle, for his wife and son. Over the years, Lal Mahal underwent damage and was reconstructed multiple times. The current structure is a 1984 reconstruction of the original palace, incorporating elements from Maratha architecture. It showcases the life and valor of Shivaji through paintings and exhibits, including a statue of young Shivaji with the Jijamata, his mother. It's an epitome of Maratha culture and a symbol of pride for the people of Maharashtra, attracting tourists for its rich historical value and cultural heritage.
