Kuldhara Village Tourism

Kuldhara Village is an abandoned settlement located near Jaisalmer in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Once a prosperous village inhabited by the Paliwal Brahmins, it was mysteriously deserted overnight in the early 19th century. Local legend suggests that the village was cursed by the villagers when they fled, and it has remained uninhabited since then. The village is now a well-maintained heritage site, and its eerie atmosphere attracts tourists and paranormal enthusiasts. The ruins stretch across the desert and include several houses, a temple, and stepwells, all designed in the traditional architectural style. The reasons for abandonment are not clear, but water scarcity and oppression from rulers are popular theories. Kuldhara lies about 18 kilometers from Jaisalmer and is a fine example of the planning of the settlements belonging to that era with a well-laid out street grid.
