Bada Bagh, which means 'Big Garden', is located approximately 6 km north of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India. It was commissioned by Maharawal Jait Singh in the early 16th century and completed by his son Lunakaran after his death. This historic site includes a series of royal cenotaphs, or chhatris, of Jaisalmer's Maharajas. Built atop a hill, Bada Bagh offers a stunning view of the golden stretches of the surrounding desert. Each chhatri is dedicated to a ruler of the dynasty and is a symbol of Rajputana architectural heritage, featuring intricate carvings and elegantly carved pillars. Bada Bagh also houses a dam, a tank, and the Govardhan Stambh (pillar), signifying the damming of a lake. The picturesque sunset at Bada Bagh adds to the serene beauty of the place, making it a popular spot for photography, especially at dusk when the cenotaphs are bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun.
