Best Time To Visit Lumbini (Nepal) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Lumbini, Nepal

The ideal time to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. These months boast pleasant weather, with moderate temperatures that facilitate outdoor activities and temple visits. In spring, the temperature typically ranges from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F), making it comfortable for exploration. The gardens and surrounding areas are lush and in full bloom, which adds to the serene beauty of this pilgrimage site. Additionally, the famous Buddha Jayanti, which celebrates Lord Buddha's birthday, occurs in May, offering travelers the chance to experience this spiritual festival first-hand.

Autumn is equally favorable with clear skies and a cool, comfortable climate, with temperatures often varying from 15°C to 28°C (59°F to 82°F). This season is also the time for major Nepali festivals like Dashain and Tihar, which can provide a deeper insight into the local culture and traditions. However, it is advisable to book accommodations in advance as this is the peak tourist season. Monsoon season, from June to August, is less ideal due to heavy rainfall that can lead to transportation difficulties and obstruct outdoor activities, while winter months from December to February can be quite cold, especially during the nights, so if you're visiting during winter, be prepared with adequate warm clothing.
