Nanda Devi National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India. It is named after Nanda Devi, the second highest mountain in India. The park covers an area of 630 square kilometers and comprises the Nanda Devi Sanctuary, a glacial basin surrounded by a ring of peaks between 6,000 and 7,484 meters high. The biodiversity in the park is rich with many rare and endangered species like the snow leopard, Himalayan musk deer, and blue sheep. The rugged terrain, pristine nature, and unspoiled beauty of the park make it a paradise for trekkers and nature enthusiasts. However, human access is limited to preserve the ecological balance. The region around the park is steeped in history and local legends, contributing to the park's mystical appeal. Its physical isolation has helped to maintain the serenity and purity of the natural environment.
