Among its many attractions, the Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery shines brightly as a beacon of artistic and historical significance.

History

The gallery, dedicated to the works of the Russian painter, writer, and philosopher Nicholas Roerich, is housed in his former residence. Roerich, famed for his profound love and depiction of the Himalayan landscape, relocated to the Kullu Valley in the 1920s. Along with his family, Roerich made Naggar, near Manali, his home, which now serves as a museum and gallery commemorating his life and art.

The gallery was officially turned into a museum in the year 1962, after the passing of Roerich's wife, who also made significant contributions to the Himalayan community. Over the years, it has preserved and showcased a vast collection of Roerich's paintings, each capturing the ethereal and serene beauty of the Himalayas. The history of tourism at the gallery parallels the growth of Manali as a popular tourist hub.
