The best time to visit Palitana is from October to March when the weather is relatively cooler and more pleasant for climbing the temple hill and exploring the temples. Summers can be extremely hot, making the climb challenging.
There is no entry fee to visit the Shatrunjaya Hill temples in Palitana. However, pilgrims and tourists are expected to follow the rules and guidelines set for visiting the sacred site, which include dressing modestly and not carrying any leather items up the hill.
To reach the top of Shatrunjaya Hill, one has to climb approximately 3,500 steps. The climb can take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on one's pace. For those unable to climb, dolis (palanquins) are available for hire.
