Best Time To Visit Vimal Shah Temple (Palitana) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Vimal Shah Temple, Palitana, Gujarat, India

The Vimal Shah Temple, one of the many revered Jain temples located at Palitana on Shatrunjaya hill, experiences a tropical climate with three distinct seasons: summer, monsoon, and winter. To get the best experience, the ideal time to visit is from November to February during the winter season when the weather is pleasant with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 24°C. Winter provides the perfect climate for climbing the hill and enjoying the pilgrimage without the discomfort of the intense heat or the unpredictability of the monsoon rains. Besides the weather, this period also coincides with auspicious days imbibed with Jain festivals like Mahavir Jayanti and Diwali, where one can witness the temple in its most vibrant form.

Visitors should ideally avoid the summer months from March to June, as temperatures can soar up to 42°C, making the climb to the temple quite challenging. Additionally, the monsoon period from July to September can be tricky due to heavy rainfall which can cause disruptions and make the pathway slippery. Therefore, planning your visit outside these periods is advisable. When planning your visit, consider arriving early in the morning to avoid the heat of the day and to partake in the morning rituals, which are a profound cultural experience. The temple is usually open from 6 AM to 6 PM, offering ample time for exploration and reflection.
