  Amazing Museum with Details of Historic and Prehistoric Sculptures, Coins and other Artwork.

  This is a must-visit place in case you are visiting Bhopal. The museum is on the same campus as the Birla Temple. From the entrance itself, you can see tons of sculptures, some dating back even to the 7th and 8th centuries. The entry fee to the museum is INR 25. At the same time, if you wish to do photography, including usage of your smartphones, you would need to pay an additional INR 100. The only negative part is that they only accept cash and no digital payments. Inside the museum is a central hall, and there are 4 5 sections, each containing various pieces of art. For instance, a section dedicated to the excavated Hindu deities dates back more than 1000 years. This includes sculptures of the Trinity of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, and Goddesses such as Parvati, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. In the other section, you will find paintings, including various art forms such as puppets. In the central hall, there are various showcases depicting crockeries and other artwork that have once been a part of the personal collection of the Birla family and now have been donated here for the public to view. This includes pieces from China and Japan, too. There is a section that houses the pre-historic currencies, such as various coins that were used in various empires across the country. Overall, the museum is a beautiful place to visit, showing much of the rich art and history from the country and even across the globe.

  Well maintained museum

  The museum has great collection of sculptures of Lord Shiva and Devi. Apart from this there are many sculptures depicting Indian gods and goddesses in the open air gallery outside. The museum also has collection of old Indian locks, dolls and some other interesting items. Photography is allowed on payment of small fee. The musem is located next to the Birla temple

  A small Collection of Birla's

  Worth a visit to go back to explore the yester years collection... The don't allow photography but a good display of coins, statues and others. A replica of Bhimbetka caves too is depicted to display

  Great artifacts collection

  Temple along with this musuem Great museum that shows various traditions and knowlege regarding sciencs , amazing facts, some interesting games and located in the peaceful environment. A very nice place for children to visit and to improve their knowledge.

  small but amazing museum

  The Birla Museum displays fine stone sculpture most of them are of seventh to 12th century.The sculptures show Shiva, Vishnu and Shakti.It also shows Varaha Avatar in the Vishnu Gallery.Devi gallery shows various goddesses like Chamunda, apsaras and fertility figures.The Shiva Gallery shows some beautifully carved reliefs of Uma-Maheshwar on Mount Kailash. It also shows archaeological finds.
