Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS), also known as the National Museum of Mankind, is an anthropology museum located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. This unique museum sprawls over an extensive area of 200 acres overlooking the Shamla Hills near the Upper Lake and is dedicated to presenting an integrated story of the evolution of man and culture with special reference to India. It exhibits the richness and diversity of cultural patterns of various tribal groups in the context of ecosystems and their contribution to the Indian civilization. Established in 1977, the museum features an open-air exhibition as well as indoor galleries, including the Tribal Habitat, Coastal Village, Desert Village, Himalayan Village, Mythological Trail, and Pre-Historic Rock Shelter. It has a touching emphasis on the tribes of India, their replicas of dwellings, traditional art and crafts, and gives a rich insight into the way of life and ethos.
