Van Vihar National Park Bhopal Tourism

Van Vihar National Park is a serene wildlife sanctuary located adjacent to the Upper Lake of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, India. Spanning across an area of about 4.45 sq km, it has been classified as a national park since 1983. Contrary to traditional zoos, animals in Van Vihar are kept in their near-natural habitat. Many of the animals are either orphaned, brought from various parts of the state or have been exchanged from other zoos. No animal is deliberately captured from the forest. Van Vihar is unique because it allows easy access to visitors through a road passing through the park, security fences, and trenches are there but hidden by the lush greenery. It is home to a variety of species including tigers, lions, leopards, bears, and crocodiles, as well as rich avian population. The park also promotes education and awareness through its interpretation center and has dedicated areas for animal care and rehabilitative facilities.
