Taj-ul-Masajid, which translates to 'Crown of Mosques', is one of the largest mosques in Asia, located in the heart of Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, India. Built by Nawab Shah Jahan Begum of Bhopal (1868–1901), the mosque is an architectural marvel of Mughal design with its massive pink facade, towering minarets, a grand courtyard, and an impressive gateway. The mosque's construction began in the 19th century but was halted due to lack of funds and resumed later to be eventually completed in 1985. Covering an area of 23,312 square meters, the mosque can accommodate up to 20,000 worshippers in its expansive prayer hall. The mosque is not only a place of worship but also serves as a religious school during the morning hours.
