Best Time to Visit Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), formerly known as Victoria Terminus, is one of Mumbai's most historic and iconic landmarks. To get the most out of your visit, timing is essential. The best time to visit Mumbai, and by extension, CSMT, is during the cooler, drier months from late October to February. During this time, the weather is pleasantly cool, which makes exploring the outdoor elements of the terminus quite comfortable. This period avoids the heavy monsoon rains that Mumbai experiences between June and September, which can, at times, cause flooding and disrupt transportation to and from the terminus.

Furthermore, visiting CSMT early in the morning or late in the afternoon can be ideal to enjoy the architectural splendor without the harsh midday sun, as the Gothic-revival structure of the terminus is quite striking when bathed in mild sunlight. Visiting during the weekdays is advisable as opposed to weekends when the terminus is particularly crowded. Despite the hustle and bustle, the evenings are also a great time to witness the spectacular illumination of the building when the façade lights are turned on. The sight of the terminus lit up against the night sky is truly a magnificent spectacle.
