Marine Drive Mumbai Tourism
Type of destination: Boulevard
Ideal visit duration: 1-2 hours
Marine Drive, officially known as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road, is a 3.6-kilometre-long Boulevard in South Mumbai in the city of Mumbai, India. It is a 'C'-shaped six-lane concrete road along the coast of a natural bay. The street lights resemble a string of pearls and create an awe-inspiring view at night, which is why it is often called the Queen's Necklace. Marine Drive is situated over reclaimed land facing west-south-west. The promenade is lined with palm trees and is a popular hangout spot for locals and tourists alike. It's a place where people come to soak in the view, watch the sunset, or engage in leisurely strolls along the walkway. The southern end of Marine Drive is called Nariman Point and the northern end is called Chowpatty Beach, which is famous for its local eateries and food stalls. Marine Drive's allure also lies in its backdrop of Art Deco buildings that are part of Mumbai's architectural heritage.

Great place for people watching and a nice breeze, best to go at sunset or in the evening
Lovely walk, very atmospheric and a great place to people watch. We were asked for lots of pictures and appeared in many cleverly angled selfies but that’s India (and indeed Asia) for you.

Worth the drive - day or night
Catch it going north so you are closer to the water and try to have binoculars. Rush hours are best so you can take pictures.
