Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Visitor Guide

Best Time to Visit

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS), formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum, is one of the premier art and history museums in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. When planning your visit, the best time to explore this cultural gem is during the cooler months, which span from November to February. During this period, Mumbai experiences a more pleasant climate with manageable temperatures that range from about 18°C to 30°C (64°F to 86°F). This comfortable weather is ideal for tourists who intend to spend several hours exploring the extensive collections of the museum without the discomfort of the city’s often sweltering heat.

Moreover, these months also coincide with the peak tourist season in Mumbai, offering a vibrant atmosphere in the city. You'll be able to enjoy a variety of cultural events and festivals, like the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival usually held in February, which showcases a fusion of arts in the vicinity of the museum. While weekends and public holidays can get crowded, visiting the museum on a weekday allows you to avoid the larger crowds and spend more time with your favorite exhibits. The museum remains open from 10:15 AM to 6:00 PM, so plan your visit accordingly to make the most of your day at CSMVS.
