Best Time to Visit Govindghat, Auli

The idyllic town of Govindghat, nestled in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, serves as a starting point for several treks, most notably the trek to Hemkund Sahib and the Valley of Flowers. The best time to visit Govindghat is during the summer months from May to June and then in the post-monsoon season from late September to October. During these months, the weather remains pleasant with clear skies, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges. The temperature ranges between 15°C to 30°C, making it ideal for the treks and outdoor activities.

For those interested in visiting the Valley of Flowers or undertaking the pilgrimage to Hemkund Sahib, the trekking season is quite strict due to the opening and closing of the portals of these sites. The Valley of Flowers National Park typically opens its gates for visitors in June and remains accessible until the end of September, which coincides with the blooming period of various flowers. Hemkund Sahib, on the other hand, is accessible from late May to early October, with its gates closing just before the onset of winter. It's worth noting that monsoon season (July to early September) should be avoided as the region is prone to landslides and heavy rains that can disrupt travel plans.
