A Glimpse into Goygol, Azerbaijan's Tourism History
Goygol, previously known as Helenendorf, is a region of pristine natural beauty nestled in the foothills of the Lesser Caucasus Mountains in Azerbaijan. The area is named after the stunning Lake Goygol, formed as a result of a devastating earthquake in 1139 that led to a massive landslide, thus creating a natural dam on the Kurekchay River.
