Jain Temple, located at Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad district of Kerala, India, is an historical monument that stands as a testament to the region's rich cultural heritage. Erected in the 13th century, it is believed to have served as a shrine for the Jain community during the rule of the Vijayanagar Empire. Over time, its function has evolved, reportedly even being used as a battery (ammunition store) by Tipu Sultan's army, hence the name Sulthan Bathery. The temple's architecture is characteristic of the Jain style, with intricate carvings and an aura of serene spirituality. The site is preserved due to its archaeological significance and attracts both devotees and tourists. Despite its small size, the temple's stone pillars and the sanctum reflect an aura of quietude and historic relevance. Owing to its Jain roots, the shrine emanates an ambience of peace and non-violence, which is central to Jain philosophy.
