History of Tourism in Mount Abu

Nestled in the Aravalli Range in Rajasthan, Mount Abu has been a popular retreat since the colonial era. Its cool climate and picturesque settings made it a summer sanctuary for British officers during the Raj. The hill station's reputation grew as the princely states built lavish summer houses here, attracting the elite.

Following India's independence, Mount Abu's appeal broadened to a larger section of the burgeoning middle class. By the 1960s and 1970s, it became an established destination for domestic tourists seeking respite from the summer heat. Historical sites like the Dilwara Temples and natural attractions like the Nakki Lake further bolstered Mount Abu's status as a tourist haven.

In recent decades, Mount Abu has developed a spiritual tourism facet, with the establishment of several retreats and ashrams, among which the Peace Park stands out as a serene haven that adds to the town's allure.
