Bhimtal Lake is a tranquil and picturesque lake located in the town of Bhimtal, in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India. It is one of the largest lakes in the Kumaon region and is named after Bhima, a mythological character from the epic Mahabharata. The lake provides a serene environment for tourists with its emerald green waters surrounded by lush greenery and the terraced hills of the Himalayan ranges. A significant feature of Bhimtal Lake is the island at its center, which houses a beautiful aquarium that was previously a restaurant. This island is accessible by boat, which adds to the charm of the lake. The Bhimtal Lake also supports a variety of aquatic life and is a haven for birdwatchers, as migratory birds can be spotted here.
