Raj Bhawan, also known as Governor's House, in Nainital, Uttarakhand, is an embodiment of the colonial era's architectural grandeur. Constructed in 1899, this estate served as the summer residence of the British Governors. The resplendent building, designed in the Victorian Gothic style, resembles the Buckingham Palace and stands as a testament to the luxurious lifestyles of the colonial elite. The Raj Bhawan is spread over an extensive area of 220 acres, encompassing vast verdant gardens that bloom with a variety of flowers. The complex includes a 18-hole golf course, one of the oldest in India, adding to the charm of the property. The mansion houses ornate rooms and imposing furniture, illustrating the opulence of its historical inhabitants. The Raj Bhawan is not only a historical treasure but also offers a panoramic view of Nainital, which is beautifully nestled around the emerald Naini Lake, surrounded by lush hills. The estate has now been repurposed to provide an insight into the colonial history and heritage, making it a significant tourist attraction.
