Short ride but great views
We visited Nainital in October 23 for 2 nights. We took this cable car from Mall Road to snow view point. Being shoulder season there wasn’t any crowd so no wait both ways. The views on the way up and down of the lake was very nice. The snow covered mountains couldn’t be viewed in the day. They said early morning is the best time to catch it. There was a free ticket to dino park included. The ticket cost 360 for return and was worth the money.

Goose is not worth the chase
Reaching: Once on the Mall road, one can walk up to Mallital and seek direction near SBI. One has to climb up the pathway to reach the booking counter. Ride Cost: Rs. 360 per person for both side journeys. Time: Too much of a waiting time. Maximum one hour stay allowed at the view point. Attraction: Nothing different from the ones available at the Mall Road. Be ready to pay 10-20% more than the ones at the Mall road.

Suggest skip the cable car ride
Not great view except the lake from up above. Honestly I felt it's waste of money taken the cable car ride. The view on most days of snow mountains etc will be blocked by clouds. In Oct Nov maybe it's clear is what locals said.

Overcrowded with long waiting time
I visited in the so called off-season and yet the ropeway was overcrowded. There was a long waiting line. After a wait of around an hour, I got into it. The ride was just ok with a good view of the lake and town. On the return, the waiting was not so much. I could get back down comfortably. The alley leading to the ropeway is crowded too, with many gamezones and vendors.

Birds Eye View !
The ropeway ride was enjoyable & gives a bird’s eye view if the entire city, especially the Naini Lake. The Locals say that this lake is in the shape of “Naina†means Eyes/ Nayan and you can see it for yourself from the top. Do not miss this ride !
