Naina Devi Temple is a revered Hindu shrine located in the hill town of Nainital, Uttarakhand, India. Situated at the northern end of the picturesque Naini Lake, it is at an altitude of 2,084 meters above sea level and offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Naina Devi, a form of Goddess Shakti, and is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths, where body parts of Goddess Sati are believed to have fallen. The temple complex comprises the two eyes of the Goddess, represented in the shrine as two Netras. The presiding deity, Ma Naina Devi, is flanked by deities of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Kali. The temple is steeped in legend and draws pilgrims from all over the country, especially during the Navratri and Shravan Ashtami festivals. In 1880, a devastating landslide destroyed the original temple, but it was subsequently rebuilt and continues to be an important religious site. With its rich cultural heritage and serene environment, the Naina Devi Temple is not just a beacon of faith but also a symbol of the resilient spirit of the local community.
