Best Time To Visit Desert National Park (Jaisalmer) In 2026 - 2027

Desert National Park, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India

The best time to visit Desert National Park in Jaisalmer is during the cooler months of October to March. During this period, the desert experiences a more temperate climate, making it an ideal time for tourists to explore the vast sandy terrain without the scorching heat typical of desert environments. The daytime temperatures are pleasant, often ranging between 10°C to 26°C, which provides a comfortable atmosphere for sightseeing and outdoor activities such as jeep safaris, camel rides, and bird-watching excursions. Moreover, these months are perfect for observing the rich wildlife, including migratory birds like the Siberian crane that visit during the winter.

Specifically, November to January are particularly favorable for those looking to enjoy the desert with minimal heat. Visitors during this period can not only explore the park but also attend the vibrant Desert Festival in Jaisalmer, usually held in February. The festival showcases local culture, crafts, folk dances, and music, giving travelers a comprehensive insight into the region's heritage. The cool evenings are also perfect for stargazing, as the desert sky provides an unobstructed view of the stars. However, evenings and nights can be quite cold, sometimes dropping to near or below freezing, so it's important for visitors to prepare accordingly with proper clothing and gear.
