Best Time to Visit Kathmandu, Nepal

The ideal time to visit Kathmandu is during the autumn months, from late September to November. During this period, the weather is dry and mild, making it perfect for sightseeing and outdoor activities. The skies are generally clear, which provides a great opportunity for breathtaking views of the Himalayas. The temperature averages around 15°C to 24°C (59°F to 75°F), creating a pleasant climate for exploring the rich cultural heritage of the city. Moreover, this is post-monsoon season, so the lush landscapes and terraced fields are particularly beautiful following the rejuvenating rains. Autumn also coincides with some major festivals in Nepal, such as Dashain and Tihar, offering visitors a chance to experience the vibrant local culture and traditions.

Another favorable time to visit Kathmandu is during the spring season from March to May. This season is characterized by warming temperatures and longer days, with average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F). This is the time when the hills surrounding Kathmandu valley burst into a kaleidoscope of colors with rhododendrons and other flowers in full bloom. It's also a good time for trekking before the monsoon rains, and for enjoying the city's numerous festivals, including the famous Holi festival of colors and the Nepali New Year. Tourists can comfortably enjoy the outdoor activities and marvel at the historical sites spread across the city without the winter chill or the summer monsoons.
