Best Time To Visit Sam Sand Dunes (Jaisalmer) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Sam Sand Dunes

The optimal time to visit the Sam Sand Dunes in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan is from October to March. During these months, the weather is comparatively cooler and more agreeable for exploring the desert and enjoying the outdoor activities such as camel rides, jeep safaris, and desert camping. The daytime temperature stays within a comfortable range (about 10°C to 26°C), which is ideal for visitors to experience the vast stretches of the dunes without the extreme heat common in the desert.

Moreover, the winter season coincides with the vibrant Desert Festival usually held in February. This is a particularly exciting time to visit as you can immerse yourself in the local culture through folk music, dance performances, and various cultural events showcasing the rich heritage of Rajasthan. The nights can get chilly with temperatures dipping to around 4°C, so visitors are advised to carry warm clothing for the evening activities. Nonetheless, the clear, starlit skies make overnight desert camping a memorable experience during this time.
