Govindghat Gurdwara, also known as Gurudwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib, is a prominent Sikh place of worship nestled in the Himalayas, at an elevation of 5,200 meters in Uttarakhand, India. This sacred pilgrimage site is dedicated to the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Surrounded by seven snow-clad peaks and a glacial lake, the star-shaped gurdwara offers breathtaking panoramic views. The journey to Hemkunt Sahib is a spiritual and adventurous trek that starts from Govindghat, after which pilgrims proceed on foot for about 13 kilometers to reach Ghangaria. From Ghangaria, it is a steep 6-kilometer trek to the gurdwara. Pilgrims from all over the world undertake this challenging journey, braving harsh weather and rugged terrain, to pay homage at this holy site. The gurdwara is only accessible for a few months each year due to heavy snowfall during the winter months.
