Hemkund Sahib, also known as Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Ji, is a prominent Sikh place of worship situated at an elevation of 4632 meters (15,200 feet) above sea level in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India. Surrounded by seven snow-capped peaks and a glacial lake, it is a site of immense spiritual significance and natural beauty. The gurudwara is dedicated to the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who is said to have meditated here in a previous life. The star-shaped structure of the gurudwara against the picturesque backdrop makes it an awe-inspiring sight. It is accessible only by a treacherous trek of approximately 13 kilometers from the town of Ghangaria, which is reached after a journey to Govindghat on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway. The challenging journey to Hemkund Sahib is a test of devotion and endurance, attracting thousands of pilgrims every year who brave the difficult terrain to offer their prayers.
