Kankaria Lake is the second largest lake in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Officially inaugurated in 1951, it is a multisided lake that was built by Sultan Qutbuddin in the 15th century as a bathing place for the kings. It is surrounded by a park, an aquarium, a boat club, a natural historical museum, and zoos. At its centre lies an island garden with a summer palace known as Nagina Wadi. The lakefront was revamped in 2008 and has since emerged as an important recreational and leisure resource of Ahmedabad. The Kankaria Carnival, a week-long festival held here in the last week of December, attracts people with its array of events, activities, and performances. Kankaria Lake also offers a variety of attractions like toy trains, a balloon ride, water rides, and more, catering to both children and adults. It is a popular spot for morning walks for the locals owing to its nicely crafted walking paths and placid environment.

Very crowded avoid on weekends

I visited on a Saturday, itâ€™s extremely crowded, cannot do the toy train and donâ€™t feel like spending time at the place or eating anything.

Better than rated

This is an extremely underrated place. Went with very less expectations during my visit to Ahmedabad on a Sunday evening, but the place turned out to be quite a stunner. Took the train which was a 2..
