Best Time To Visit Nainital Zoo (Nainital) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Nainital Zoo, Nainital, Uttarakhand, India

The best time to visit the Nainital Zoo, also known as Pt. G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo, is between the cooler months of April to June, and again in the autumn months of September to November. During these periods, the weather in Nainital is pleasant with comfortable temperatures, making it an ideal climate for visitors to explore the zoo without facing the challenges of the extreme cold or the monsoon rains. The zoo is nestled in the hills of the Kumaon region, and in these months, you are likely to experience clear skies and a beautiful natural ambiance which enhances the wildlife viewing experience. Moreover, since these months coincide with the peak tourist season, the zoo is well-prepared to handle visitors, and all facilities are operational to ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit.

Keep in mind that the Nainital Zoo remains closed on Mondays and all national holidays, so plan your visit accordingly. The visiting hours are usually between 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with tickets sold until 3:30 PM. It is recommended to visit the zoo during the early hours as the animals are more active and the crowd is relatively less, offering a more personal and unhurried experience. Additionally, the festival season, particularly during autumn with events like Diwali, can attract more visitors to the town which could mean a more vibrant atmosphere but also larger crowds. During the winter months from December to February, Nainital experiences snowfall, and while the zoo might be open, the cold and slippery conditions could be challenging for some visitors.
