Best Time To Visit Hemkund Sahib Helicopter Service (Hemkunt Sahib) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Hemkund Sahib by Helicopter

The optimal time to visit Hemkund Sahib via helicopter is during the months of May to October, when the weather conditions are most favorable. The Sikh shrine, situated at an altitude of approximately 4,633 meters above sea level, is only accessible during these months as it remains closed for the rest of the year due to heavy snowfall. The helicopter service generally operates between the months of June and October, with the pilgrimage season typically starting in late May or early June, immediately after the opening ceremony of the portals.

It is advisable to plan your visit around the monsoon season (July to August), which can sometimes disrupt helicopter services due to heavy rainfall and poor visibility. September to early October is often considered the best period within this timeframe due to the reduced chances of rainfall and clearer skies. Moreover, the valley is usually lush and vibrant with a variety of flora in full bloom during this period, making the journey even more picturesque. Always ensure to check weather forecasts and the operational status of the helicopter service before planning your trip to Hemkund Sahib.
