Best Time to Visit Valley of Flowers National Park

Valley of Flowers National Park in Uttarakhand, India, is renowned for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and outstanding natural beauty. The optimal time to visit this UNESCO World Heritage site is from late June to early October. During this period, the monsoon rains bless the valley, and it blooms with a vibrant carpet of flowers including orchids, poppies, primulas, marigolds, daisies and anemones. July and August are particularly recommended for the best floral displays. However, the park is open for visitors only between June to October, as it remains covered under snow during the rest of the year.

Visiting the park in these months is not only visually rewarding but also offers a pleasant trekking experience. The moderate climate with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C during these months provides comfortable conditions for trekking and exploration. However, trekkers should be prepared for occasional showers which can add to the adventure. For pilgrims aiming to visit Hemkunt Sahib, a revered Sikh shrine that's also located in the vicinity, the ideal visiting time is between June to September, as the path leading to the shrine is cleared of snow during these months.
