The Batashewala Complex is a historic site located in the northeastern corner of the Humayun’s Tomb World Heritage Site in Delhi, India. This 16th-century garden tomb complex harbors three primary structures: the Batashewala Mughal Tomb, the Mirza Muzaffar Husain's Tomb, and an unknown Mughal's Tomb, often admired for their intricate Mughal architecture, which is reminiscent of the Humayun's Tomb. The complex, built by the Mughals, suffered damage and decay over the centuries but has been subject to restoration efforts by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture in collaboration with the Archaeological Survey of India. Despite being lesser-known compared to its grand neighbor, the Batashewala Complex offers a tranquil retreat and an intimate look into Mughal funerary architecture. The intricate stone lattice work, elaborate inscriptions, and the unified planning of the development within a charbagh (a quadrilateral garden layout based on the four gardens of Paradise mentioned in the Quran) offer an evocative insight into the era of its construction. It's a peaceful place for history enthusiasts and those looking to escape the city's bustle.
