Qutub Minar is a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Mehrauli area of Delhi, India. This towering minaret stands at a height of 73 meters and is a fine example of Indo-Islamic Afghan architecture. It was constructed by Qutub-ud-Din Aibak in 1193 to celebrate Muslim dominance in Delhi after the defeat of Delhi's last Hindu ruler. Made predominantly of red sandstone and marble, Qutub Minar is part of the Qutub complex, which also houses other historically significant monuments like the Iron Pillar and the Alai Darwaza. The Minar comprises five distinct stories, each marked by a projecting balcony and tapers from a 15-meter diameter at the base to just 2.5 meters at the top. The first three storeys are made of red sandstone, while the fourth and fifth stories are of marble and sandstone. The tower is covered with intricate carvings and verses from the Qur'an. Qutub Minar is not only a key tourist attraction but also a symbol of the architectural heritage of India.
I love this place, visited it for second time and was as impacting as the first. Go early in the morning and avoid the crowds. We had the place for ourselves.

Tickets price are 550 rupees if you pay by card, and there are plenty of guides next to the entry that would give a tour for 300 rupees or even less if you bargain. Interesting site, construction star..
