Humayun's Tomb, located in the capital city of India, New Delhi, is an architectural masterpiece from the Mughal era and stands as a majestic mausoleum for the emperor Humayun. Commissioned in 1569-70 by his first wife and chief consort, Empress Bega Begum, it was designed by the Persian architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyas. The tomb is set in a large, immaculately manicured charbagh, a Persian-style garden with quadrilateral form offering a tranquil retreat from the bustling cityscape. The structure is built mainly from red sandstone, with intricate inlays and marble work. It marks a significant turn in Mughal architecture, later influencing the construction of the Taj Mahal. The complex includes other beautiful tombs, such as Isa Khan Niyazi's tomb, which predates Humayun's Tomb. In 1993, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, acknowledging its outstanding cultural importance and well-preserved Mughal architectural grandeur.
