Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib is an important Sikh shrine located in New Delhi, India. This gurudwara commemorates the spot where, in 1675, the mortal remains of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur, were cremated after his execution. The Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb ordered Guru Tegh Bahadur's execution, and his body was left in the open to prevent Sikhs from giving him a proper funeral. However, Lakhi Shah Vanjara, a devout Sikh, retrieved the body and set his house on fire to cremate the Guru's remains in a clandestine manner. The gurudwara was constructed at this site in 1783 after Sikh military leader Baghel Singh conquered Delhi. The architecture of the gurudwara encapsulates Sikh design with its golden dome, white marble floors, and large prayer hall. Visitors to the gurudwara can also partake in langar, a community kitchen serving free meals to all irrespective of religion or caste, which is a hallmark of Sikh culture and tradition. The gurudwara is a symbol of piety and resilience, and it offers a serene and spiritual experience to all who visit.
Situated at the heart of Delhi, very well maintained, peaceful and has ample space for parking. It is less crowded than Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.
