Raj Ghat, located in Delhi, is a solemn memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Indian nation. It is the site of Gandhi Ji's cremation, which took place on January 31, 1948, the day after his assassination. The memorial consists of a simple black marble platform that marks the spot of his cremation. It is left open to the sky while an eternal flame burns at one end. Surrounded by a vast expanse of lush gardens, Raj Ghat provides a tranquil retreat from the busy streets of Delhi. Visitors enter through beautifully manicured pathways to pay their respects, and must remove their shoes before approaching the platform as a sign of reverence. Raj Ghat also houses a museum dedicated to Gandhi’s life and his contributions to India's independence. Ceremonies are held at Raj Ghat on Fridays, marking the day Gandhi used to hold his congregational prayers, and on January 30th, the anniversary of his martyrdom. The memorial has also been visited by various international dignitaries, reflecting Gandhi’s global legacy.
